'94 cavalier problems!!!!!! HELP!!

Hi, im on here under my husbands screen name........ i bought a 94 cavalier 2 mos ago.we havent driven it much ,its been broken for the most part.first it was the tcc solenoid, then the fuel pressure regulator the thermostat and a new alternator.
we also just finished our second oil change. there is a knocking noise and the oil light comes on. while we are driving the car the oil light doesnt come on and the knocking is quiet. the only time you hear the knocking or the oil light comes on is when the car is idling. can anyone help us out. we are going to check the oil pump and sensor later today.thank you.

Sounds like a problem with the oil pump. In fact it sounds like the bypass spring is stuck open. At idle you probably have a lifter making noise due to low oil pressure. This must be fixed or you will lose a rod or crank bearing. This is a fairly cheap and easy fix, just messy and under the car. Good Luck.
