1995 Blazer

I have a really stupid question for anyone who can answer it. I have a 1995 blazer and I just had an oil change done on it. Well, today I found something hanging down in the front. I looked and it was the door that covers the oil filter, where you can access the oil filter from this door. On the door it says that it must stay shut for engine coolant. I couldn't get the door to stay shut. I think a part is broken or something on it, cause the screw won't hold it shut. What can I do? How do I fix it? Is it normal for the door to open up by itself? What will it really do to my engine if I can't fix it? HELP!!!

i wouldn't worry about it... i've driven around with my oil filter door open and had no problems... sometimes its kind of a trick to get it to stay shut, but you just gotta work it a little.

I drove about 200 miles yesterday with it open, will it do anything? I'm just worried about it. I'm trying to sell it and don't need any more problems with it.

Re: 1995 Blazer

the part that latches is just a little nub of a screw, so it might wear out and not shut properly, but the only thing you might worry about is stuff getting up in there like dirt or other debris, but its not a big concern in my opinion

Go and close the door.

You push in the screw and turn it 180 degrees.

Don't drive with it open or it will catch on something and rip off.

Better yet, go to the oil change place and have them fix it seeing they are the ones who didn't close it properly.
