Blender Door ??

Was wondering were the blender door is located on a 99 taurus. I have no heat at idle or at start up. After driving car for about 15 after warm up it starts blowing out hot heat. Then when I stop at stop sign or park it goes cold in seconds. I have flushed out complete cooling system, heater core/rad. , installed new thermostat and checked to make sure heat-cool knob was working. All looks fine. From what I have read on the other posts I should replace the blender door. Any help on where this located would be great. Thanks

the blend door is under the lower middle of the dash. you can remove a little metal cover and turn the key on and turn the temp control knob to see if it has full travel. believe it or not after multiple flushings of the core, and all hoses, i finally got really good heat when i put on a new radiator cap and kept topping off my fluid level. after a couple of days i guess of the air bleeding out of the systerm, ive had great heat ever since!

Thanks for this info! I had a "no heat" sitiuation on my 98 Taurus and envisioned a heater core replacement. After reading this post I checked and had hot heater core hoses (heater core ok?) so thot I would take a look at what's under the "little metal cover" suspecting the blend door was not working. Took off the plate, put heat control to full hot, gave it a nudge and presto the arm moved and the heat blasted out of the vents! I suspect that maybe someone that last sat in the middle front seat may have jarred the assembly.

Thanks for your advice. You made my day!

OK, so I've looked for the Blend Door and cannot find it. I guess I'm really unsure of what I'm even looking at can anyone clue me in on what to look for. I removed the metal plate, I assume this is the one that is attached to the shift colum area. Right below the radio.

Thanks!
