I am trying to install an after market remote car starter. I need to splice into the ignition switch wiring, but I can't find them. I removed the access panel under the steering wheel and looked up to the key switch and the wiring is enclosed in metal. (theft safe) I have a diagram telling me what color of wires I am looking for, but I don't see them. ANYWHERE. I looked at every harness down there and nothing. Help please. Also will unplugging the factory theft device disable it with no side effects? Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Where are the ignition switch wires???
I'm looking at the wiring diagram for the '97 Windstar...
If you look at connector/connection C101, you should be able to splice in right there... this puts you on the other side of the factory anti-theft controller module. The wire is white with a pink stripe, apparently. This wire leads into the transmission range sensor. HTH
