Need some input

Hey all,
I'm researching before I start my project car. How easy are these to work on? I want a small front engine, rear wheel drive that I can tune.
How friendly will this be for a learner with medium budget? Thank you for all your input.

a miata was one of the first cars that i did serious work on and i found it to be very learner friendly. of course there really isnt anything too terribly difficult about working on cars. just take things slow and make sure that what you do is done right and you won't go wrong. the miata is a beautifully handing car and there is a good bit of potential for more power out of it but it takes some money to make it anything that could be considered fast. as far as kits go a supercharger or turbo charger kit could be had for a miata to put it over 200 whp for around $4-5,000 on an all stock bottom end. that alone is more than enough power for most people but for the more power hungry there is more that can be drug out of the engine with some building of the internals.


did I mention that the Miata is a beautiful handling little car? =)
