studders when you give it gas...sounds like basic maintenance problem. first when is the last time you have checked the following: spark plugs & wires, air filter, fuel filter, disributor cap, rotor, etc.

also, you cant really check this but it could be your MAS reading wrong.

also, your timing could be off. and you could have a vacuum leak.

Hi, your new here, so let me explain some things...we don't tolerate flamming...as you have just joined, you were supposed to read teh AF user guidelines...where there is a specific part about flamming. When you have a problem and ask for help, we are happy to oblige, however when you start insulting other members, especially ones who are regulars and well liked, people remember that. This is one place you don't want to start off acting like a prick.

If you feel his reply didn't offer you the technical response you were looking for, then you are free to let him know, but I suggest you put more consideration into how you go about wording that.

Re: headache after headache

Now as far as your problem, I'd pull your front 3 plugs and check them. Regardless of what the mechanic said, it would be a good idea to check yourself.

They may have been fouled out, plus once you pull them, you can read them and see if you are running lean or rich, and they may lead you to the right track. The fronts are probably similar to the rear ones, so just pull the fronts as they are easier.
Instructions are in the FAQ.

ok...i have a couple questions for you...

1. does it studder or misfire at idle or just when you hit the gas???
2. after you hit the gas, does it even out after you get to a certain RPM?
3. if you rev it slowly, and then give it moderate gas in neatral does it not misfire?

either way it sounds ignition related, might want to change the plugs reguardless, the mechanic could have put some cheapies or the wrong plugs in...or reused plugs from another car. mechanic's have a tendency of being DUMBASS's alot of times.

1. yes it studders alittle when idling, that and it just idles really rough
2. yea if i keep it at a certain rpm(lower then slowly work my way up) it will even out
3. i dont remember it misfiring while doing this

yea its been rainin and cold and iv had work and school but as soon as i get a free second i gotta change my spark plugs

oh and one more thing, i had a friend of mine say when he put an intake on his car and it throw off his mass air sensor and ran terrible and almost did what my car is doing now. i thought that since i have an intake maybe when it was put on my new used engine, it might be the same thing. to me this sounds like an intake could never do that but just wondering and opinions on it.. thanx again man

usually an intake doesnt cause the MAF sensor to misread or anything...what happens is, when people install air filters sometimes the air filter is too close to the MAF so when the air is coming into the intake piping faster and at more volume, it will cause turbulence on the sensor causing it not to be able to read accurately...

but on the other hand, the MAF sensor can cause your problem if it is not reading accurately. also, 3000gt's should have some kind of Idle Air Control Valve or something of that sort, that controls idle. also check your TPS sensor (Throttle Postion Sensor). but i would start with the plugs...i am almost positive you have a bad plug.

Re: headache after headache

It's your plugs, not your intake.

I would check the intake/exhaust. I had crack in the gasket connecting the exhaust header to the block and the car would hesitate when gave it gas below 2000 rpm. My guess is that the ECU had a descepency between the Air Mass control sensor and the Oxygen sensor and was trying to adjust the air/fuel mixture out of tolerances.
