Slight vibration at 60mph
I have a 2004 Sedan 5spd. At precisely 60 mph I have a slight vibration. But only at 60 (within a couple of mph). Every other speed no problem. It drives very smooth at every other speed. The wierd thing is it's not constant. It's somewhat rhythmic. Sort of a pulsating. It does it for about 2 sec then stops for about a sec. And keeps doing it over and over until I either increase or decrease my speed. I had a similar thing when I drove a Hyundai Elantra. Never had it looked at on the Elantra. Any thoughts?

Re: Slight vibration at 60mph
Hey, I'm new to the forums. I just bought a 2004 Aveo Hatchback, 5 speed. Mine does it when I hit 55 mph. Just like you said it is pulsating and not constant. Does anyone else have this problem or is it with all Aveo's.

That is what I am hoping. I still have less than 400 miles on it, so I haven't really even broken it in yet. Thanks parky. |

I'm also getting the vibration at 55 and the Dealer And Chevy says they know about it but cant fix it. They offered me free oil changes and stuff to compensate for it. I have 2,000 miles now and it still does it.

Re: Slight vibration at 60mph
Did they give you the, it's operating within specifications line or did they say they are trying to figure out a fix? I have almost 18,000 miles and it's not getting any better. As a matter of fact I think it's getting worse. It doesn't affect driveability, but it is annoying.

Re: Slight vibration at 60mph
I just purchased a new 2005 Chevy Aveo 5 speed hatchback and it vibrates as soon as you hit 55 to 60 mph (2 seconds vibration, 1 second off). The dealer and GM can't fix it. The courtesy car the dealer lent us was an Aveo automatic transmission and it was fine. I'm am taking GM to arbitration over this. Had we known about this vibration I would not have bought it.

How does this vibration occur? Does the entire car shake, or just the Steering Wheel? I havent noticed it on my LS, but when I get my car back, I'll check it out.

Re: Slight vibration at 60mph
I'll have to try it next time I'm on the highway. I have an 04 LS with 5spd manual. Even if the car does have some weird vibration at a particular speed, I still love it, besides, i rearly cruise at 60mph.

Re: Slight vibration at 60mph
FWIW, I have it as well. Manual box; 4000 miles on it.
Had the tires balanced twice. Had a tire expert check the rims for trueness. No problems there. Guess I gotta live with it, too. Geez...it's a nice package, but HOW could GM go and sell a car like this with such a basic problem? |

55-60-65 MPH vibrations are usually tires and wheel balance problems. And sometimes you have to have a good wheel/tire balance. This hunter wheel balancer will usually take care of 99% of tire and wheel vibrations. Find one and have your dealer get them balanced with it. let us know how it goes. MT

Re: Slight vibration at 60mph
along with the tires not being properly inflated or good...
I'd go with this theory...when i lowered my aveo..i discovered theres adjs for toe but no camber settings... when there are no camber settings you get something like a bowing effect with your controls arms (you may have noticed from looking at the rear of your aveo that it already has some neg camber...the wheels bow out a bit)...now that mine is lowered its more balanced and i dont start shaking till around 70. they need to come out with adj camber bolts/plate.. ..it would also help with reduction of alignments. |
