Buying 4 12" JL W3's what kinda amp power should i get???

Hey I just purchased 4 12inch w3 Jl audio dual voice coil Subs!!!

I'm thinking to get the best bass and clarity out of them to amp each sub itself with a Kenwood 800 watt amp on each that would be 4 amps on four speakers i think it sounds like a sick idea and a great way to make my neighbors madd!! Hahaha!!!

If you hvae experiance with subs and with amp matching please help me make my decision!!!

Thanks Again!!!

what you will want to do is look at the RMS rating on the sub. you will want to match that RMS rating with an amp of the same or slightly higher rating for the best sound clarity and bass. hope you enjoy them!

Kenwood amps Back say 3-4 years ago they made decent amps, but nowadays they are just eh. What ohm speakers are they and how much power can they handle, RMS number. I'd stick with 2 amps, 2 subs for each. Running 4 amps wouldn't be worth the hassle of having to use a 1 to 4 distro block and running all the wires and RCA cables for them. That's if the amps have a preamp out on them, or you have 4 preamp outputs on your CD player which I highly doubt.

Re: Buying 4 12" JL W3's what kinda amp power should i get???

a pair of JBL BP600.1's they are pretty inexpensive and my and my friends 300.1 threw te pair of W12's HX2's and high excursions around nicely and my 1200.1 is a beast.

probably can find a pair of these amps for 300 bucks and they are 1 ohm stable, class D, I like em.

they don't make the BP line anymore though, which really sucks. 1 1200.1 would be perfect for 4 W3s, if they are 4ohm SVC or 2 ohm DVC

Re: Buying 4 12" JL W3's what kinda amp power should i get???

I only found a couple used 600's on ebay right now

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WDVW

and 1 used 1200.1

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...737550211&rd=1

not sure how the new GTO series is but heres the 1201.1

basically same specs as the BP1200.1 for 290

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WDVW

the new BPX1100.1 now is 540 bucks even on ebay though.

i recomend the alpine v12 accuclass amps, espescially if your planning on getting an alpine reciever cause you will be able to control your amps settings from your reciever. plus it's alpine so you know it's quality.

alpine is quality providing you have warranty

if you ever buy alpine, make sure you have warranty. repair bills are nasty and it's not guarenteed.

sounds like alpines fall apart easily!!! or will they stand up to a beating with the JL's?

they don't fall apart easily. they are good, but with anything, get a warranty. alpine service isn't always the best. when something needs to be fixed, they have qualified repair shops to fix it.

less problems to overcome if u have warranty.

Ok well if i put the amp a bit farther from the Subs they wouldn't vibrate them as much keeping solders connections better in place!
