Common Monte Carlo Problems

Greetings.

I have a 1999 Chev Monte Carlo LS with a 3.1 L. It has been a pretty decent car and overall, I've been very happy with it (it was a damn good car for the price).

My extended warranty runs out in 3 months. I just had a number of things repaired and just this morning discovered that the things that I've had fixed are very common problems with this car.

I'm trying to get a list of common problems so I can think of ways of getting them fixed while the car is still under warranty. Also, I've been told that some car manufactures will fix common problems under a "hidden warranty" after all other warranties have expired.

Thus far, common Monte Carlo problems are:

- intake manifold gasket leaks
- turn signal switches
- bad fuel injectors
- bad ABS wheel sensors
- power window regulators (I've had 5 repairs for this)
- and, apparently, bad Transmission Pressure Control Solenoid (PCS) TSB # 00-07-30-002B

Are there any other common Monte Carlo problems that I've missed? I'll check the Technical Service Bulletins on Alldata and add to the list if I find any more.

For those of you out there who are having some of these common problems, my father has told me that he's had work done at factory expense after the expiration of the warranty when they involved common problems. So if you have a problem and you know it is a common problem, get the name of the GM representative from your local Chevrolet dealer and complain like hell.

And if that fails, contact your state Attorney General's office and voice your complaint. Common, well-known problems should be fixed at manufacturer's expense, even after all warranties have expired. They are defects and flaws in workmanship, not random problems.
