whats up guys...
i just wanted to let you guys know that i have finaly reached my goals in my gpgt. I am 18 for those who dont know me and have been busin my @ss workin for over 4 years now to by performance parts for my gp. I just bought the cartuning 3.8l turbo kit with the ceramic coating and upgraded turbo along with, thrasher shift kit, borla exhaust system, desert fox tranny cooler, ebachi lowering springs, the new struts from pfyc with the ajustable knob, the carbon fiber f1 ram air hood, american eagle 176 wheels, and a thrasher cai kit. on all of my mods i did kinda go nuts but just under 10,000 well worth it if your askin me.. lol... now my ?. I took the car off the road for the cold months and it is in my garage with all of my upgrades not in it yet.. I went to a shop and asked when would be the best time to put it all in and he said asap. Would it be a good idea to get everthing installed now b4 the cold months or should i waite untill the coldest is over considering it is not going to be on the road untill winter is pretty much over.... thanks a lot for your help guys... ps. while i have it in the garage should i start it up periodically to keep it runing or just leave it be untill i am ready to bring it to the shop to get it done up. |

Well, nows about a good time to start saving up for your tranny rebuild after the turbo is installed.

Did you ask the guy at the shop why he recommended doing it ASAP? As far as storing your car, it's not a bad idea to start it up periodically. Let it run until it gets up to operating temperature.

Re: reached my hard earned goals!!!
Tom, you sound like you got your shiat together, you prolly know a bit more then i do. But one thing i see missing from your list is a Tranny cooler, that could help. Tom if your tranny is good iunno what you should get, i would say keep the normal gt tranny cuz despite what people say, its badass and durable. But since you have a turbo, i have no idea, cuz i dont know jack shit about turbos, those are really not my thing, i bet Kustom Kid or Big-L can atleast give a few suggestions as to what to do.... they seem like they know what they are doing around hureeee

Re: reached my hard earned goals!!!
whoops, my bad, i read the list very quickly, hmm Tom, sounds as if you are good to go, yeah iunno tho, i personally wouldn't have gone with the turbo on a grand prix... for 3 grand you could have done some other shit to get it up there.... for 3 grand you coulda bought a good ass rebuilt S/C, something other than an Eaton M90

You always have someone on here going to say what they would do with that money. I think you went the right way with the turbo The shop prolly told you to do it asap cause in the winter time is when they get slow being im from WI they tell me to bring it in during winter months. Good Luck with the setup and post some pics when its done.

Re: reached my hard earned goals!!!
But sometimes it's good when you hear more ideas.
Anyway, what other SC's fit on the 3800 besides the Eaton M90? And what are the trade offs of turbo over super? |
