Can't drive with back windows down
When we drive with the back windows down, we get an unbearable tire/whipping noise. It's so loud, you can't drive it with the back windows down. It really hurts your ears. The dealer states this is normal. Anyone else experiencing this problem?

This is normal. It is not tire noise. It is a combination of pressure and aerodynamic factors associated with the back windows being down. If you crack a front window the sound will disappear. This happens on a lot of vehicles. THe Jeep Liberty we had was terrible, it sounded like riding in an Apache helicoptor!

Even with the front windows cracked or down it sounds like the Apache helicopter. Seems like a design flaw to me. We love driving with the windows down in town on those beautiful Spring and Fall days. Can't do that with this. Would installing window guards help? Other than that we love our 03 TB LTZ. The dealer has been good about fixing the other stuff. |

Re: Can't drive with back windows down
Does it not help to "vent" the windows all the way in the rear? (I am not sure if that is only on the EXT) The ones where the controls are on the center console on the head liner.

Re: Can't drive with back windows down
FWIW, we have this same issue in our Suburban and it was the same before and after we put our wind deflectors on.
