How depressing is this sky?

I got to work a little early on Monday so I decided to drive to the top of the Hollywood Hills and take a picture of the West LA/Century City skyline. I got home and uploaded them and just thought....

Great, Los Angeles has 360 sunny days a year, you picked the wrong day dude. Besides, I like that picture, it has soul.

Why didn't you take that picture today? Not a cloud in the sky...

Re: How depressing is this sky?

Open it in photoshop.

Right click on the eye dropper and select the ruller.

Click on one side of the Horizan, then drag across and click on the other side.

Now select: Image/Rotate Canvas/Arbituary and select CCW.

When you done crop off the edges, repost it and hopefully I will be able to look at it with out falling off my chair

You know, as well as I do, if I took that picture on a sunny day in LA that it would just be a hill with smog at the bottom. The sky didn't even really look that dark, it was just the setting I used on the camera.

I don't have photoshop so I can't be sure, but, it sounds like you think my picture is crooked. It's not, it just looks that way. That's the coastline of California heading south which turns into a penisula with hills (on the left side) on top.

Re: How depressing is this sky?

If you measure the verticles on the buildings its crooked :-)

And no photoshop?
So its straight out of the camera with no adjustments other than a resize?

Very nice.
(ecepts its crooked)

Yeah, me too. Usually in LA rainy days clean up the air, it didn't happen his time. Which makes it depressing.

See above.

Note: After looking at the original I think I should rename this thread, "How depressing is it to have your pictures quality destroyed by photo hosting sites?"

Re: How depressing is this sky?

The funny thing is that's not smog you see in this picture. Cloudy days in Los Angeles aren't smoggy days (sunlight is an important ingredient when making smog). The red tint is probably because the quality of the hosting site as Blindside mentioned earlier -

Re: How depressing is this sky?

I think sadness and depression builds character, notice soul and blues isn't played by rich people that are too happy with everything they get. Poetry isn't played by people like Jessica Simpson. This is irrelovent to the picture, but ... well now you know.

Well, you're partially correct on the tint. The picture above was using a 'sunset' mode on my camera making the orange's and red's a lot more vibrant. The colors on that picture are correct, it's the quality and clarity of the photo that was detroyed by the site. The actual view with my eyes looked a lot more like this:

To me it looked like smog, but it may be something else.

Re: How depressing is this sky?

Smog usually forms a blanket over the city and you see the tops of the skyrises sticking out of it in the horizon. I think in this picture it's the mythical "marine layer" that So Cal weather reporters always talk about - the haze of foggy misty crud that rolls in from the Pacific.

Here's a website about it...
