Motor Swap Question?

Well heres the deal.. I got this 90 Si and the goober that got the car before me must have really "F"ed up the engine pritty good so he drops a DX motor in it. Ok, I can deal.. So I start looking for a Acura Integra Type-R motor for it and I find one but I dont have the time to put my car under the knife.. What do you suggest.. Go with the original or is there something better down the road?

Let me know what you think..

Re: Motor Swap Question?

i dont remember what the engine was in those things, the D16A6 like i have? anywho, if you want more power up top, go b-series. If you want something easier to swap in, go D series. Really depends on preference and how much power you're going for. But there's definitely better engines to choose from than the original

Re: Motor Swap Question?

If it is DX it is a d15b2

I assume that it has the Si MPFI still?

Then you have about 102hp 96f#

The D16a6 (stock Si) is 108hp 100f#

For ease you can get a SOHC ZC (drop in and go) cheap and it will have about 120hp

Otherwise you are running wires (VTEC and OBD1)
Or getting DOHC ZC or integra motors and you will need more parts, not cutting the car tho..

Just from experience don't go ZC, to hard to find parts for when stuff goes wrong. I went from a DX auto to a ZC standard and regret it wished I would've put a B16 in instead.
