upgrade to sat nav

I have a BMW 728 1997, I am looking at getting sat nav and was looking at just an XDA2 with TOM TOM but I wondered whether it would be possible to buy the screen/kit from a salvaged car and install it in my 7series which does not come with sat/nav/tv.

ie something like http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...735859848&rd=1

i dont know how hard or possible it is to upgrade a beemer to sat/nav/tv if it was not originally installed so I would like any thoughts/experience as its a tidy way to get what I want and keep my car!

I completed this retrofit recently and it is a very clean way to add GPS Nav to the E38s. I bought most of the main parts from Ebay or local people doing other upgrades to complete a MKIII computer system witht he small screen (4:3). It works great adn I love driving places I don;t know to use it now.

I drafted a long write up for this project and posted it on the www.binnerboards.com forum for Navigation. Search there to read and see the shots taken in various stages of dismantle and instllation.

ALl together it took me about 6 days solid weekend days to complete everything, but I took my time and was cleaning and detailing as I went along.
