masking alternative
Just wondering if anyone has tried using Glad Press and Seal wrap as an alternative to masking tape. It's transparent, conforms to curves, cuts easily, and sticks to just about anything. It removes easily and leaves no residue. Sound too good to be true? Well, it may be. From what I've found so far, it may not be compatible with the Tamiya TS paints. It's the only test I've done so far, and I applied the paint very heavily. I plan to experiment some more using different kinds of paint and different application techniques. I'll keep you posted on my findings.

Re: masking alternative
It's incompatible with any lacquer paint for a start, I don't think you're going to find much happiness trying to use glad seal for masking.

Re: masking alternative
It seems to me that the texture of the film would prevent ever getting a true, solid masking line.

I've found that Cling Film is good for masking large areas with masking tape being used for the actual paint separation line. One word of caution....always let your paint cure completely before using Cling Film otherwise it will leave marks.

I had it leave a sticky residue when I used it to mask clear windows to paint the black trim on the inside. The residue didn't want to come off easily and that was on raw polished plastic. - Mark
