85 Supra Ignition Timing Check Problem

I have an 85 Supra that I am trying to set the ignition timing on. When I place a jumper across the two terminals of the Check Connector the idle speed does not decrease nor does the timing change. Should there not be a change in the idle speed or timing once the jumper is in place?

I'm experiencing the same thing. I short the conector and I get no change in idle speed! One of the terminals reads around 5 volts and when I connect the two terminals, I get nothing! Can anyone shed any pointers?

Well, maybe next December someone will give us an answer. In the mean time I just advance the timing a little bit and test drive it to make sure it doesn't ping.

After I gutted my CAT I am able to advance the timing even further without it pinging...
