OBD11 code p0172 running rich

Good day. I have just replaced the engine in my late production 1995 Blazer (4.3L Vortec OBD11 inspite of the stickers). Well now I have the SES light on and my reader (autoxray) says I have code p0172 running rich. Now the gas consumption is aweful so I believe the computer in this case. Both sensors and the exhast have also been recently replaced.
My question is, where does one go for a trouble shooting guide, or does anyone know the steps required to trouble shoot this problem? The cost of feul and that anoying light are driving me crazy.

Your nut kit or your fuel injector is leaking in the upper plenum.

Remove the plenum cover and look for washing on the driver's or passenger side.

Thanks for the information BlazerLT. I pulled off the top of the plenum and it was full of gas. Seems that when I installed the plenum one side of those little black clips broke. That was the good news. The bad news is that only the entire assembly is sold. In the great white north they want $827.58 for the part, plus GST. Fortunatley I have been buying so many parts over the last 6 months, including the new AC Delco rebuild, they gave me a sizable discount to $484.67 plus $33.93 GST. While it breaks my heart and wallet to spend that much to replace a working part with a defective retaining plastic clamp (that probably cost less than $10 even if you iclude the hose) I am happy to no longe5r has the idiot light on and over the next 2 months the feul cost savings will pay for it.

Like the guy at counter said, it comes in this nice box whith great packing inside for your new part ;o)

Thanks again for the insight and assistance.

How old was the CPI unit in there? The one that broke.

Which side was washed out?

As far as I know it was factory so it had 195500 KM or 122187 miles. The failure came on the clip of the passenger rear injector.

Now onto the other 3 things that are driving me nuts. The rear washer, the lack of 4x4 and vanishing speakers from the Alpine CD. The washer is anoying as the pump works with direct power, the switch provides pewer but it will not operate through the switch so I suspect bad wiring as I believe there was an alarm or remote starter before I purchased the Blazer. That may also explain the periodically dead speakers as well. As far as the 4x4, there has been some great posts that I have to go and try. I do not wish to do what a lad at work went through last week with his wife's Blazer $900 C to replace the control module as I do not believe that is what my trouble is as the transfer case engages and the indicator lights operate correctly. I suspect it is the vacume diaphram under the battery tray.

Again, thanks for the insight and helpful advise. I was thinking it was a sensor related issue, not a mechanical issue. So while it cost me a pile of money for the part, I did save an incredible amount of time(and probably money for unneeded parts).
