I have a 1993 Grand Prix that seems to be dying on me. I tried starting it the other day and it was dead. The tow truck driver tested the starter and told me that it was the solenoid that was dead. I went and bought a new solenoid and that was changed. After however, the car wouldn't start and it seemed to be the battery this time since nothing in the car was coming on.. no lights, nothing. The battery wouldn't even hold a charge as I tried to jump start it to another car. Well I got the battery working and found that the car still wouldn't start even with the new solenoid. I got a new starter and changed that. Now heres the problem.. The car starts if i get it going on the starter using a screwdriver, but makes a really strange noise. Also, the car won't start from the ignition. PLEASE HELP. Im at my wits end here and have no idea what else to do or fix.
Thanks everyone |

Re: Helllpppp
AKWE,
Don't you know a screwdriver is a "key" for every car. And that a hammer is a Ford break tool. What kind of tool box do you have????

Re: Re: Helllpppp
I agree with awke-gt, I had a GTO that did the same thing when I changed the starter with an identical version. the shims have to be set correctly for the starter to engage correctly. Does it make a grinding type of noise when it starts or sound like the starter is still turning after the car has already started?

Re: Helllpppp
That's because the nose is too deep into the flywheel.
