CD Deck Problem

'98 Saturn SL

Okay... So I had a Panasonic CD deck and never had problems... Well, just tried to wire in a new deck... An MP3 Deck I got at the Best Buy sale for 50 bucks... So I do all the wiring myself... I believe there are 3 wires for the power side... And a fourth for the power antenna... Which I did connect for the hell of it, and then I believe there is 4 diff sets of two wires I believe for speakers and the antenna... Turn on car... NOTHING!? I didn't bother disconnect neg cable on batt or anything... Everything is connect as far as I see except two orange wires for a dimmer? But Those weren't connect when we did the Panasonic as far as I remember... Any ideas? Willing to try anything!

Other notes.
I have noticed that now the rear defroster only works on occasion and I don't get the beeps like when I leave lights on or keys in IGN and open doors or anything like that... I'm thinking this could be related... Fuse or anything?

Thanks.

Re: CD Deck Problem

the radio has two power sources, one always hot, one hot with key on. the always hot power source is just for storing the radio memory(time and presets) it has a 5 amp fuse shared with the chime module(chime noise and defroster control). the hot with key on source is the radio primary power, and signals when the radio is on or off, it has a 10 amp fuse. in my expearince aftermarket radios like to pull most of their power from the alway hot source, which in our case is the weaker one and blows that 5 amp fuse. the way around this is to pull the always hot power from somewhere else(many people tap the cigarette lighter wire). ether way, at this point your CHIME fuse needs replaced.

i don't know if this is your style connector or not - http://www.saturnfans.com/photos/sho...p/photo/16853/
