project next year

This is my first post here and like to say HI! I'm not new to cars but never really worked on a ford.

My sister has a 88 Vic LX with the 5.0 I got it for one hell of a deal! $600 bucks with new trans, low miles and one owner a lil old lady. I had to put brakes on it, a window motor and a heater core. Still a good solid car!

My project is almost done so then I'm gonna do some things to hers like a nice brother should. First I was going to start with a new comp cam, rockers, springs, injectors and headers. Nothing to wild just just better than stock. Then move to suspension. Replace bushings, balljoints, etc, find some new wheels and to top it off bag it! Yes I said bag it!

To give you a little advice so you can take advantage of the mods you are doing to the engine replace the stock cyclinder heads because they are crap. I would go with a set of 5.0 mustang cyclinder heads or GT40 or GT40p cyclinder heads. And to my knowledge you will have to make your own brackets to hold the bags for are cars because no one makes a complete kit for are cars.

I was thinking about replacing the heads but I'm not sure if she'll need that much more power. My sister don't need any tickets. I was also tinking about losing the EFI and get Holley avenger or Street Demon.

As for making my own brackets would be no problem since I work in fabrication and on a race team with all kind of parts hanging around.

You should definatly keep the EFI over a carb setup. If your looking for perforrmance a good low restriction exhaust is the first thing you should consider for these cars, this is where the easiest horepower is gained.I had a Flowmaster Super 40 Exhaust with a 3in. Pipe coming out the back put on my 87 Vic LX 5.0L,and the accelleration at at low,and especially full throttle has definatly improved.Easily a 10-20 hp Gain.

I really don't like the efi since everything cost an arm and leg. I know how to tune a carb so that's not an issue. Exhaust would be 2.5 inch duals not sure what mufflers but not 40 series a lil to loud for my sister.

One thing that has to change is put in a posi! I hate peg legs!
