This isn't a for sure thing but if everything works like I think it does it should. At the very least I am 99% sure it won't hurt anything. The computer recieves input from the vehicle speed sensor (VSS). From there the computer sends signals to the speedometer. You should be able to either unplug the VSS but then you can't see how fast you are going ever. Option 2 is to cut one of the wires and wire a switch to the wire you cut. Then when you get 109 MPH just flip the switch and your speedo will probably drop to zero but your car should continue to gain speed. Worst case the car shuts down because of the signal loss. Nothing is for sure until you try, I've been toying with the idea of doing it to mine since a chip isn't available but it's kind of a lot of work for something that's just going to get me in trouble. Hope this helps.

I wouldn't be messing with the VSS. Typically on auto transmissions they rely on the VSS to help decide when to shift. Best case senario the system accepts the lack of VSS as a broken part and it resets to a standard setting. The check engine light should also come on because of this. Another possibility is it won't shift gears at all. Especially O/D.

Re: how to dissconnect the governer

i put a swith on my vss, and it does shift hard when you disconnect it and the check engine light does come out, but you can go as fast as you want. i had one of my friends follow me in his z28 camaro and we got up to 155, and i could have gone faster, but i ran out of room

Re: how to dissconnect the governer

In most modern injected cars, people want to "remove the governor" but it cannot be done. You must get a reflashed / reprogrammed PCM. What year / engine is your car? There's PCM's avaibable online.

By the way, I'm going to have to call BS on what you said Viper. Even if you were an EMT, there's no reason for you to be driving faster then the 110 (i think) MPH that your Intrigue is governed at. Even if you needed to go faster then that, and had the PCM reprogrammed, you would need to get speed rated tires, and eventually a suspension upgrade. Your car is governed for a reason - the stock tires are unsafe above that speed. And even if you do get speed rated tires, at higher speeds, you run a very high risk of bottoming out or losing control.
