Wink broken speedo?

my trip odometer stops at 100 miles. i have to reset it but it doesn't always start back up right away. this is on a 96 accord ex that i purchased used. does this suggest the odometer has been tampered with or does this suggest that the odometer is broken and needs to be replaced? thanks

Re: broken speedo?

Sounds like you have a mechanical problem with the trip odometer. It is gear driven off the car odmeter. If it is a big deal, you are going have to remove the instrument cluster to get to it.
