New Radiator for 98 6 cylinder wrangler?
A pressure test (as well as a puddle under my Jeep) shows that I have several small leaks in my radiator. Does anyone have any suggestions for a new one? I'm tempted to just get another mopar part but am also looking into the CSF HD 3 row radiator from www.dpgoffroad.com Anyone have eperience with this type of radiator? Any disadvantages for having the Jeep run at a cooler temp?
Thanks in advance! |

Re: New Radiator for 98 6 cylinder wrangler?
The HD radiator won't make your Jeep run cooler, the thermostat is controlling the temperature. What a more efficient radiator WILL do is increase your capacity for cooling, allowing the water in it to cool better and be "more ready" when the thermostat opens. In general, more cooling capacity is a good thing, especially at low speeds. The website you menioned looks ok, just make sure the aftermarket radiator has some warranty with it, and more importantly (to me) that it fits without any modifications.

Sorry, need to correct myself. New rad will likely run cooler than the old nasty one, but no cooler than what the thermostat will let it. Hmmmm hope that makes sense.

Thanks so much for your reply. I decided to go for it and ordered the CSF brand radiator from radiator.com. There were no modifications needed and it came with a lifetime warranty. So far so good!

Sweet. Should be good to go; good opportunity to change the coolant too.
