Dodge 1997

Hello,I have dodge caravan sports 1997,i m having few probs,first when i shut off the van it got no power,power door wont work .if open the door manually there r no lights until u switch on iggnition,and for last couple days when i start the van and put in gear it shuts off,and after some time it works even if its warm,coz i drove yesterday for 30 min and then it shuts off,,can some one help....plz....

I have a 1996 Grand caravan and had the same problem. I'm going to guess that you have changed the stereo or someone has changed it at some point. What u need to do is go to a parts store or radio shack and get the right stereo adapter for your make/model. First make sure that ALL original wires have the plastic end plugs if not you'll need to get them from a junkyard or parts store as well. Once you do this I am sure this will fix your problem. Your ignition power supply works through the swithch in your stereo. You can use a different radio but HAVE to use the correct adaptor for everything else to work right!

thks for ur reply ,i change the stereo but same as one before do i still have to change the adapter

I would try to get the correct adaptor for it if possible. Considering that you have changed the stereo that would lead me to believe the wiring isn't just right. Don't worry I did the same thing on my van. No matter what I did I could not fix the wiring until I had the adapter. Good luck with it!
