PA coil replacement.

Will the coils of a 1988 Olds Regency 3.8 work with my 93 PA 3.8. I dont need to replace the whole power pack just the coils.

if it is a 3800 motor then yes it should work. Coils generally are all the same. Shape and Size vary. I use a 85 mustang GT 5.0L on my Saab 900 16v. There all the same, just size and style my friend.

I would say no. The AC Delco part number for the '88 coil pack is D552. The part number for the '93 is D555. The big thing is that it appears that the '88 part contains all 3 coils, instead of just one like the '93 is.

If They fit on the tower as a whole and hook up, then they will work just fine, part number different or not. If yours is 3 coils seperatly then your kinda in a jam there.. unless you get all 3 to fit then you will be ok.. which style to you have?

Yeah, that's what I was saying. According to everything I found, the coils for the '88 engine were all one unit. Of course, GM is known for changing things mid-year and saying that each engine still used the same parts.

My 91 is all one unit as well, but all the aftermarkets are seperate.. which is better anyways I think.

Re: PA coil replacement.

I checked the PA and they are seperate coils. The Regency has all 3 molded together. I guess I will have to find them somewhere else as I dont think the they will hook up into the conection.
