This blew my mind when I figured it out......you can remove a fuse and the odometer stops working.....

If I remember correctly you also loose your speedo, tach, power windows and locks.........

DAMNIT

Oh well.

Forgive the dumbass question, but I'm assuming that is the same thing with a 90 eclipse, right? Where the fuse is just blown and needs replacement?

Or you can just go under the hood and unplug the speed sensor. Then all it affects is the speedo and odometer! Then if you need to know what speed you are going pick a certain RPM to remember certain speeds. I do this when I take long trips, like 4300rpms in 5th gear = 100mph!

Yeah, the thing is I want to AVOID being chased by a fleet of armed police officers with itchy trigger fingers!

I have a logger that shows vehicle speed as seen by the ECU. Will unplugging the speed sensor effect the logger??

Re: gauge problem

unplugging the speed sensor will make it so the logger doesnt know how fast you are going since the logger uses the same sensors as the ecu.

Re: gauge problem

Err.... I tried checkin the fuses, and they seemed alright, but I saw none that were of just the speedometer guage. Unless it was just the guages itself, and in that case, if that fuse was bad, wouldn't none of the guages work? Because my RPM guage works fine, and so does gas, warning lights, etc, just not odometer and speedometer.

Re: gauge problem

Stupid question time again.... The speedometer cable, where the hell is it connected? Is it connected from the engine side of the firewall or from the instrument cluster? I took the dash apart and we could NOT get that cable to come loose from the dash side. It just would not budge!
