I am looking for a good mechanic in New York area

Hi there,
I have a 94 JGC V8 5.2L.
I have a couple of problems that I can not fix so I am looking for a good mechanic in NY area especially Bronx (where I work).

I am asking this because today I fixed my driver door lock switch to a mechanic that my friend mentioned and he charged me $120 only for this, And I tested him (:P). I told him that my shifter's light does not work - It was working actually before I left the car- And as I expected, he said he fixed it.!!!.
I don't trust the dealers in NY area, when you go to a dealer for a problem you come out with another problem fixed (even if it does not exist), still they did not fix the main problem and they charge you arm and leg.
I need a mechanic who knows what to do and who is honest.

Please help.
