i have a question about my 04 Taco 4x4 TRD xtra cab v6. the stock stereo has component speakers in the front and 5x7" in the back. I heard somewhere that there's a seperate amp in the dash that powers the stereo. Does anyone know the wattage/ per channel for the stereo? i can't find this information wherever i look. if you want to see my truck and what i'm planning to do with it go here: http://www.cardomain.com/id/stereomaster423
anyone who has any knowledge please let me know what you think. |

Re: 2004 Tacoma stereo
It's more like a pre-amp and not enough to do much if you haven't already noticed what are you trying to do?

Re: Re: 2004 Tacoma stereo
im taking the factory radio out, and the stock pre-amp thingy. and the stock component speakers and 5x7s in the back. i'm going to sell these on Ebay. just for interest reasons i'd like to know what the stock wattage is for the radio. i'm thinking maybe 35wx4. the website i posted earlier explains what i'm doing.

Re: Re: 2004 Tacoma stereo
aight now you got me going about my project- so i mind as well go into detail, Here it is: I bought a new Pioneer head unit through the wonders of Ebay i saved a boatload of money. I also bought a Kicker CompVR 10" subwoofer, which i overpaid for at a local electronics store. I also overpaid for a 350w RMS amplifier that will power the sub. I got a custom sub-enclosure that was made specifically for my truck that fits in between the two seats in my Xtra cab, i ordered this from a fellow who lives in Texas.
Also on its way is a JL Audio amp 300wx4 RMS (that will power the speakers 75watts each RMS) I gotta order JL Audio component set speakers for the front and JL Audio 5x7" for the back. then i gotta get it professionally installed. which will cost me more than the JL amp and Pioneer headunit put together... |

Re: 2004 Tacoma stereo
If your getting it profesionally installed they know all the tricks but if you change your mind and want to do it yourself there are some short cuts that you should know to make the job easier on yourself good luck.
