1995 thunderbird v8 qs about gears

i recently purchased a 1995 thunderbird with the 4.6L v8, i am wondering how expensive it is to replace my gears, where to go to do it, or if it I could do it myself, which to change to; 3.73 or 4.10 and if i then need to get a new torque converter. Any help would be great thanks

Re: 1995 thunderbird v8 need some help

3.73s will get you better gas mileage and better top end, but the 4.10s will let launch like a bat out of hell.

The price depends on who you have do it and where in the country you live. around here I believe they charge around 200-300.

i will probably be in chicago when i do it, do you have any recommendations as to who should do it, and will i have to change my torque converter then. I'm thinking about going for the 3.73s though im tempted to do the 4.10s. Im trying to eventually be able to take down my friend with a 1998 mustang gt, dont know if it will happen but im going to try
