Voth VSC lights & check engine light

While on a fairly long business trip in July, both VSC lights and my check engine light came on. (2001 4Runner w/ 80,000+ miles). Spent $500 at an out of town Toyota dealer for 2 hours of $75 per hour diagnostics and fuel sensor replacement). Lights came back on within a couple of weeks and have taken it to my local dealer at least 8 times - most of the time for diagnostics and twice for replacement parts, but have spent $200+ there. Really like those folks, but tired of being a guinea pig. I don't think they've had this problem before. I'm losing patience. My car is running fine. Any suggestions?

Had this same problem recently with my 2001 4Runner. Mine was caused by a bad check valve in the gas cap. $15 for a new gas cap fixed the problem. Your post doesn't say if the dealer already tried this. If not, it may be worth $15 to find out.

Good luck.
