Check Engine Light Code 0404

2002 Saturn SL
Saturn dealer said the oxygen sensor was defective. I replaced the sensor. Check engine light came back on. Took it to autozone and their OBD II showed code 0404 related to EGR. Their book is showing 9 possible problems from EGR. Help! anyone having this type of problem?

most EGR problems can be solved with a good cleaning, remove it and spray inside the EGR and the passages inside the head with sensor-safe carb and choke cleaner. replace the EGR gasket also, its $5 at saturn

Thank you for the suggestion. I tried it after reading your message. The light and code still came back.

Any other suggestion?

sorry, thats the only easy tip i know of, take it to saturn for diagonistic.

Did you reset your computer to erase trouble codes after you cleaned the EGR?
