no heat hoopy
I replaced my heater core but I'm still not getting any heat. I've heard that there is supposed to be two hoses that are connected to the heater core? When I disconnected it I didn't see any hoses. Will I need to raise the car to find out if the hoses are disconnected or should I be able to see them from the top side.

Re: no heat hoopy
Those two hoses connect the heater core to the engines cooling system - usually more visable from undernieth.
A heater core is just a miny radiator - the heat is drawn of the engine coolant. |

Re: no heat hoopy
It was the heater core you replaced correct ??
There should have been two short pipes attatched to the new (and old) heater core(s). |

Re: no heat hoopy
I use Haynes Manuals - but not everbody likes them.
Chilton makes good manuals as well. What year is your car ? what size motor ? |

Re: no heat hoopy
There should be a black metal tube approx 5/8 inch in diameter coming out of the water pump passender side at the front of the motor - this pipe goes across the front of the motor to the drivers side then turns and heds for the firewall - this is pipe number one.
The other comes out of the intake manifold drivers side under the throttle body, also turns toward the firewall - pipe two. These two metal pipes are joined to the heater core with pre-formed 5/8 heater hose. Bulk hose can be used - but can also cause big headaches. |

Re: no heat hoopy
Have you confirmed the motor size ???
The tube from the water pump does join anouther from the intake but on mine this join is on the passenger side of the car. The second tube comes out of the intake on the drivers side near the air filter. Follow the path of the air from the air filter to the motor - under were the round black air duct that attaches to the aluminum throttle body, you should find the second tube. There is a large 'quik dissconect' fitting were this tube enters the intake. This is all provided we are still talking about a 3.1L. |
