My First Cavalier

Hi Everyone,

I have just purchased my first Cavalier ever. I have been wanting one of this vintage since I first saw them when they first came out. it is a 92 RS Ragtop, and I just love it! I noticed a guy asking about dual exhaust, I would love to put that on mine. Is that even possible because of the way the engine sits?

Thanks,

Jim.

Re: My First Cavalier

yeah, its possible, its not "true" duals of coarse, they normally run from yur cat. converter back.they sell a few kits for that or you can make it yourself...oh, and by-the-way,welcome to the forum.

Re: My First Cavalier

You can't put true dual exhaust on it, but you can split the pipe somewhere after the cat converter, or as I would do, use a GM F-body (Camaro/TransAm) crossflow muffler with 2 outlets.

Talking Re: Re: My First Cavalier

WOW! You guys wasted no time making me feel welcome I have posted pics of this car in the Gallery. Since this is the Cavalier Forum, I did not post pics of my Wildcat or LeSabre. I would if I wouldn't get into trouble over it. But to see my Classics, you can always go to http://my.core.com/~jweatherly

Regards,
Jim.

You wont get in trouble, Id like to see your other cars!

And I agree with KJRich, the Camaro muffler is a good choice.

Re: Re: Re: Re: My First Cavalier

Okay, it looks like I stuff one of those camaro mufflers into it. I am not dumb, but about these cars, I know absolutly nothing. How about some direction of which muffler to purchase. Should it be for a small block V8 or does the Camaro come with a dual exhaust V6? I suppose the Y Pipe would not be that much of an issue. I am also assuming that I can get universal hangars so the exhaust hangs correctly. I do not want this car to look like a shade tree hack job, If you have seen the pictures that I have posted, you can tell it's a beautiful car in near mint condition, and I would like it to continue looking that way. Of course this will all have to wait for the spring to be done because I do not have a garage, and this will be done on jack stands in a driveway, but, I can however, spend the winter collecting all of the parts that I'm going to need. I do appreciate advise, and simple direction. I would also like to swap out the hood for one of those Z-24 Hoods with the scoops on it. Preferably a white one so I don't have to paint the car right away. Once I fix all the little rust spots, I'll have it painted, but in the mean time, I don't want a hood that is not white on a white car.

Thanks!

Jim.

Nice cars. I'm into the classics too, mine are Mopars though. Anyway, here's what the Camaro muffler would look like.

Preferably choose one for a V8, but I believe some V6 models also came with the dual outlets. As long as you specify, or look for "dual outlet" in the description wherever you shop, you should be fine. I'm taking mine to an exhaust shop.

Red X's? You mean where there should be an Avatar or Photo?

Re: My First Cavalier

I see red X's where CRJ tried to post photos. I even tried going directly to the URL of the pics and that didn't work either.
