There's a snapping sound, almost like the sound of a strong rubber band being snapped in the front passenger side of my car when I turn right or when I have my wheel turned right and going back straight. It doesn't necessarily happen every time I turn, but almost every time. Now, I've had this squeak in the front passenger side of my car for a few years. I had it before that and brought it to the dealer. They diagnosed it as being the control arm bushing. They replaced it and for about 2 years it was gone. Then it came back a few months ago. I looked at the control arm and the bushing looked just fine. (But I guess I don't know what one is supposed to look like but it looked fine to me. The bushing was definitely there.) But it's the exact same squeak when turning right that I had the last time the bushing was bad and the dealer fixed it. Plus the previous owners brought it in to have that same bushing fixed. The car has a history with that bushing going bad. So I don't know if this is pure quincidence that I hear that squeak again when turning right and now I am hearing that snap also (the squeak has not gone away) when turning right. They could be two seperate issues or related. But does anyone know enough about how the front end works that they could give me an educated guess on what is wrong? Does it sound like I am risking my life driving it everyday, or could I get by a few more months until I get some more money just to have it fixed? I might do the repair myself. If I knew it was the control arm for sure, I could do that myself. But seeing everything looks normal to me, I am hesitant just to replace it anyway. And I am almost thinking just to take it somewhere else. I'm just strapped for cash (college student barely making over minimum wage) and can't afford to take it to a repair shop if there's anyway I can do it myself. (And don't tell me to sell it and get something more affordable. I love this car. When it drives perfect, I feel like I'm a millionaire driving it. It drives like a dream... when it drives.)
