No Cruise Control

I recently purchased a 1998 4.3L GMC and had to replace the cuise control switch located on the column since neither the windshield wipers nor the cruise control worked.

With the new switch the wipers now work but still not cruise. I checked the fuses and all looked fine. I even replaced any brake light, interior light or cargo light bulb that was out since one post mentioned that it was my trucks way of telling me the brake lights weren't working.

I don't even get a cruise light on the dash when I push the cruise button.

What should I be checking???
