Exhaust

I dont think this is that technical of a question but i need help. Im about to a cheap on put a custom exhaust on my 1990 CRX Si. I've been looking at different name brand exhaust specs and the Greddy Exhaust i want has the pipe 2.36" in diameter. I know people that have gotten custom exhausts and their pip is 2 1/4". So my question is should i get a 2 1/2" pipe or 2 1/4? Which would have more performance and better quality sound. And for the record i dont favor custom exhaust at all. I just need to get mine off ASAP.

i'm a little lost here with this vague question.first you say you want a custom exhaust and/or looking for one but cannot decide on the diameter, and then you say you dont favor custom exhausts.
my definition of a custom exhaust is every thing that is non standard, not stock.
be more precise.

Re: Exhaust

best performance for a D-series would be absolutely no bigger than 2.25" (2 1/4") unless u r running a turbo/supercharger, then step up to 2.5" (2 1/2")
as for good sound quality, make sure u get a good resonator and muffler. both straight thru and not loovered pipes. that's the set up i have on my rex and it isn't that pissed off weed-wacker, pack'o bumble bees, rice rocket sound. good mellow tone at idle and cruising, gets a little louder under hard accel, but not that harsh crap.

believe it or not, i'm actually running an OBX catback (was supposedly a Tsudo exhaust, but it looks IDENTICAL to the OBX), and it fit and sounds good. not that crappy weed whacker, no pack of bumble bees, but a solid, mellow tone. it has a resonator in the factory-ish location, and the muffler is straight thru. i've been looking to build my own exhaust that doesn't exit in the factory location, and have been researching different mufflers and resonators. so far i have found magnaflow to be the best for a similar sound to wut i have now. if u'd want my exhaust, i'd be willing to part w/ it. pm me about it if u'd like. otherwise i'd say try ebay for a new one, or piece together a set of u'r own.
