Question Transmission acting wierd

I have a 94 blazer S-10 w/vortec 4.3, pulled up to a drive trough and when pulled out the tranny lost 3 gear and sluggish, pulled over checked the oil it was bubbley couldn't tell what the stick was reading. waited a few min. that was fine no burnt smell either. Limped it to an Autozone waited in line for about 30 min for them to tell me they didnt have tranny rebuild kit. took off truck was back to perfect all gears are working good start no sluggish.
I am worried that this was something major, Has anyone had this wierd thing happen?

I have a old 88 4x4 blazer with a 4.3 automatic transmission it started really shifting hard and would not go into overdrive.i manually pulled the tv cable by hand a couple of times and it is running great now shifts perfect, im not sure but i think the cable may have been stuck. also my cruise control does not work so i disconnected the cable to it, i did all of this at one time so im not sure what made it shift right.
