Question Burnouts???

Hmmm... my accord won't burnout, and the tires won't squeel when I'm launching my car.. does the accords have a traction control system or something? I've tried it like 3 times, but all that happens is the engine revvs high, then it starts moving, even when I let off the clutch! When I do let off the clutch, the clutch stays down!!? It never burns out or squeels when I shift to 2nd gear at like 6000 rpms too...? Is there a problem with the car or is it the computers in the car? OR IS IT JUST ME!?!?!

Re: Burnouts???

Although front wheel drive sucks for doing burnouts because of tire hop and such, you should still be able to atleast squeek the wheels. Some time you should go to a rock parking lot and spin them. You should be able to that especially if its wet.

Ive squeeled the tires plenty of times, left marks a few time. also lost traction in rain when i floor it in 1st gear.

I think i need new tires tho. And my engines gonna blow any day now too.

I have a 1990 or 91 i cant remember what it is.

Re: Burnouts???

hmm.. clutch is fine... just fine... but I guess it might be the clutch too after thinking about it. There is no smell when I get out, it was just like, sitting there when I let off the clutch... I don't think the previous owner has touched the clutch yet, so it has about 96,xxx miles on it...

I can peal out easily in my car and I have brand new treads on. I dont like wearing down my winter tires though or the hop caused from front weel drive burnouts so I dont do em often... Is your clutch pedal just sticking? Off topic but is there a way to get rid of the hop when I do burnout? Would it be a strut bar?

As far as the burnout goes, i dunno man, have you done a burnout in another car before?? i hate to ask, but do you know how to do a burnout?? a key is popping the clutch. FWD is hardly the prob, my 92 auto will roast em from a dead stop just punching it with stock rims and new tires.
On the sub of wheel hop; just get either motor mount inserts, better/stronger motor mounts orrrrrrrrr.... ive heard you can inject caulking into them and it will stiffen the mounts up some....keep in mind, when you are just kinda puttin round, you will vibrate more, espically if your engine has issues

Re: Burnouts???

wtf, your clutch is fine and you still can't do a burnout?

so if you just take off normal does it speed of or does it take a while for it to get up to speed?

Re: Burnouts???

it speeds off... but since its so heavy and the engine is only giving it enough power to push it, it takes a while for it to get up to speed.. hmm... maybe it could just be that its not strong enough?

Re: Burnouts???

thats really odd though, my sol which was barely over 100hp to the crank would leave 2 very nice streaks all down a parkin lot without e-brakin.....are you sure its not your clutch....or are you not popping it and just slipping?

Re: Burnouts???

I can burnout in my stock auto. accord. I think the problem is u, not tryin to be an ass or anything. the reason your not burningout is becasue VTEC engines have high torque at low rpms. try neutrol dropin it from 4000 rpms or so.

Re: Burnouts???

neutral drops are for autos man, which tear em up too.... but yea, forgot to tell you to rev it...maybe i just took it for granted....are you revving the engine before popping the clutch!?
i agree with klone, try revving to 4K and just pull your foot off the clutch very fast then floor the gas. if you dont at least squeel somethings up, either your not telling us that you have 20's or something. lol
