Passenger side rear door won't shut.

The passenger side power sliding door on my `01 Windstar doesn't always shut completely. I've cleaned the door contacts and removed the plastic "bumper" clips from behind the door but neither seamed to help. What else can I do?

When you say it doesn't always close completely, there are two latches, primary and secondary, is it closing and latching the primary position and then not making it to the secondary latch? If that was the case it would click once, attempt to close further then give up and open a little with a slight click.

I have a 96' Windstar(not one of them new fangled)without the "power"sliding door did have a problem losing it and found that the black plastic alignment pin near the bottom of the door column directly behind the passenger seat ,was damaged and hanging by one bolt and made the dorr impossible or showed ajar when triying to close. This may or not be your problem but found it a problem with the door. Went to the wrecker but had to go thru all the inside paneling of the door column to get at the bolts from behind but once replaced I was a :O) happy camper!

It could be the solenoid in the door. My door was doing the same thing. But eventually it would close. Now it wont unlock. I took off the door panel and was playing around and got in unlocked.It would open again and close but reopen again. When I locked the door it would stay shut. Maybe try to lock the doors and then shut it.
