Re: Change Engine Head Good Idea?

I think you have the wrong engine code, the 91 LX came with a D15B2 which is a DPFI motor and most novice mechanics mistake it for a carburated engine. But this motor is fuel injected. The d15B7 was in the 92-95 civic LX. Your options are endless really, you can swap in a d16z6 or a d16y8 if you want to keep it SOHC. Or you can go DOHC with any B series motors. The B18A1,B18B1,B20B, and B20Z will work and are non-vtec. The B16A1,B18C1,B18C5,B18C and B17A are all vtec motors. Do some searches on swaps with the motors and you will get loads of information.

Re: Change Engine Head Good Idea?

Ahh you have the D15B4 and let me guess you don't live in the states?

I would just do a few upgrades to that motor honestly. You can get the basic I/H/E (Intake, Header, Exhaust) and then swap in the cam from a SOHC ZC motor they are rated at 127hp and the motor you have is rated at 105 hp.
To be completely honest with you with $2,200 you could make the car a lot faster with some mods to your current motor. For that kind of money you could rebuild the motor with some higher compression pistons and get a aftermarket camshaft, the should put you in the 140+ range after it is tuned. The D16Z6 only has 125hp.Food for thought.
