New cat brings my GA back from the dead

Hello.I just wanted to thank you guys for all the info on thse cars.My Grand am was running horrible after I had a new pipe and muffler put on.No power and extremely crappy mileage.I thought it might be the converter but my mechanic thought it was the tranny because it would not shift correctly and would rev way high until it did shift. After calling around and seeing that I was looking at a $1200 transmission rebuild bill I thought, what have I got to lose and put in a new cat.The results are incredible, the motor can breath again and has more pickup than when I bought the car 5 years ago and the mileage has improved. This car is going on 170K and I hope to get well over 200.If your car is high mileage and is having similar symptoms check your converter. Thanks again.
