ECT button

hey i was wandering what the ect button a 89 supra was for? is it like for over drive or does it send more power to the car?

the ect button allows your tranny to be power shifted, meaning you can manually change the gears without hurting the tranny. It also changes the shift points as well as eliminates fourth gear, or overdrive.

the ECT is the electronic control transmission.. I dont know about manually shifting the tranny without hurting it.. that one would be news to me??

The ECU has various shift patterns programmed into it.. When your ECT is on or "power" The ECT ECU will change the shift patterns and lock-up accordingly..

Your upshifts will come later and harder, at a higher speed.. depending on your throttle position..

Makes a Huge difference in my car

All i know is that it is the electronic control transmission. Im not to famillier with the older supras.
