Re: Guage Lights

I have the same problem with mine.. haven't come up with a solution yet... I'm guessing there must be an inline fuse somwhere, I can't find one in the fuse box for it...

howdy. few options. first, you could have blown all the instrument panel lights. almost impossible unless your wiring is all screwy. youd have to drop the steering wheel, unscrew and unplug about a hundred bits and pieces, and plug the new cheap lightbulbs in from the back, but i dont think thats what your problem is. second, the dimmer switch could be off. on the left, low on the dash, theres a rotating switch that dims the instrument lights. needless to say if its mistakenly all the way dim it appears that the lights arent on. third, there is a fuse. i cant remeber which one, off the top of my head. if you need me to find out, i can look it up. it blew on my car, and consequently the instrument panel, radio, AC lights didnt turn on when the headlights did. when i pulled all the fuses it actually didnt look dead. i had to look up the wiring diagrams, recheck the fuse, and sure enough, it was blown. just didnt catch it on the first look. i think that if that fuse is blown, your tail lights wont light up when the headlights are on. fourth, the aforementioned dimmer switch coudl be dead. id have to look at the wiring to tell how to check if its dead or not. finally, it woudl be some other weird wiring problem..

cheers
anthony

which wiper are you talking about? what exaclty do you do? it doesnt sound right, but im not sure im hearing you the way you meant it.

so, its not the fuse. are *all* your gauge lights gone? like- speedo, temp, gas gauges are all dark at night? or just one or two dark?

All guages listed above are dead.. I have no guage lights at all.. I have my turn signels and everything else shift light and all.. But No Speedo No Gas, and no Temp... Also the wiper switch behind the steering wheel I have to hold mine pushed towards the dash to keep them working doesn't seem right to me...

i dunno. im definitely not an expert, just have done a bunch of dabbling with those systems in my old broken escort.

did the wiper switch problem and gauge lights go bad at the same time?

do you have a multimeter and a junkyard nearby?
