i need help !

hello
i have a 1993 isuzu rodeo that i bought and my check transmission light goes on when i drive and when it turns on i press the gas and it doesnt seem to go i have to press the gas hard just to go a little bit to pull off the road and then i turm my car off and wait and turn it back on again and its ok for sometime and the people that i bought it from said that the oil pump is going out could the oil pump be dead and its causeing the transmission light to come on i really need the help. thanks alot!!!

It's most likely your alternator starting to go bad. Your electronically controlled transmission requires a steady amount of juice to keep it running properly. When it doesn't get it, the transmission goes into limp mode which basically means it stays in 3rd gear. That's why you have to press the gas so much to get it to go. I would look first at the alternator and electricals. Can't fathom how the oil pump has anything to do with this problem.
