Need 4.8L exhaust input!

My truck has exhaust on it and it sounds good but its not loud enough for my tastes ( 16 yrs old )

I dont like the racking off type of sound you get from Straight pipes

So what is the best muffler you can get for the 4.8L V8 ( Loud with a good strong rumble)

- thanks

Re: Need 4.8L exhaust input!

The Gibson system I have on my 4.8 is pretty good. I mean, if you want loud, go with Flowmasters. But a Gibson will give you a relativly "tame" sound at idel and a nice rumbel around 2000K rpm. But when you step on it, it roars. I mean, I have set off car alarms at about 2500 rpm. Can only imagine what it sounds like outside the truck. I still havent had someone else drive my truck by me while I stood outside, but not yet. Some high flow cats would help too.

Im sure someone else will post some better ideas that I have.

Re: Need 4.8L exhaust input!

I just put a Flowmaster 40 on my 4.8L. With the dual 3" tips it was pretty loud for a week or so. It's tamed down a bit, but still loud.

Go check out http://exhaustsoundclips.com/phpbb2/...gory&cat_id=37 for soundclips of the 4.8L with the Flowmaster or DynoMax.

Re: Need 4.8L exhaust input!

Have to agree with Nigel215 and BL54. I don't know how the Supertrucks sound on a 4.8L but I put a set of them on my '90 5.7L with a high flow perf. cat and they're everything they said. Quiet (but sweet sounding) at idle and low RPM (when you need them to be), but a raucous roar of pure power at higher RPM without the phoney resonation some of the cheaper systems have. The dual right side outlets look great too!
