91 b2600i, brake indicator light on
I recently purchased a 91 b2600i, and the parking brake light started coming on. At first, it would flicker on, then go off while driving, but now it stays lighted all the times. The emergency brake is NOT engaged. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Would the cable between the emergency brake and the light need replacing?
thanks, Lucas |

Brake light
There is a switch on the parking brake assy, that is held in by a piece of plastic, this is probably broken due to age, replace it or unplug it and light is off.

Re: 91 b2600i, brake indicator light on
Quote:
The brake fluid container in the engine compartment contains a sensor float that turns the light on when the fluid is low. I just topped it off and the brake light went away. Now it only come on when I use parking brake. This also explains the flicker, since the float sensor is more prone to movement during travel. Also, you should never disconnnect the light to the sensor! These lights have more than one meaning...in this case you could lose all your brake fluid and never know! |
