Turbocharging a 383!?

I have a 383 crate enginge coming soon and I was thinking about turbocharging the bitch! I dont think that there is a turbokit for a 383 out there so I might have to go with a custume turbo kit and thats where I get stuck. I dont know what parts I would need to put a turbo kit together. Is there anybody out there that can help me?
All replies will be appreciated

Re: Turbocharging a 383!?

Unless someone else is doing it, that would be me. Infact I'm twin turboing a 383. If you want a kit Gale Banks makes one. It includes everything from intake manifold, exhaust manifold, turbo's ducting and all that good stuff, it's a pretty penny though. It's all chrome too, looks good.

I personaly am going to get everything but the intake, I'm using a holley stealth ram.

Re: Turbocharging a 383!?

It's a retarded set up. Just supercharge it and have real muscle. Why do you want a camaro sounding like a turbo civic ?

LOL you have got to be kidding me... A turbocharger setup will make more power at the same boost levels.

Re: Turbocharging a 383!?

the only way he's make his camaro sound like a turbo civic is if he puts a turbo'd 4-banger in his car.

Re: Turbocharging a 383!?

I've never heard a turbo v-8 except those crappy trucks so I don't know. I do know though that just for the exhaust set ups they are 550+ a set. It seems like a bigger waste of money than to do a blower set up or something.

I seen ones that were rated like 100 HP for under 2G's.

Spray the motor! shoot a 125-150 shot on it. If you have money for a custom turbo do that. But Spray is the way to go. YOu put the pressure on the motor when you want too, not when the turbo spools or the motor is turned on(super charger) NOS is cheap, refilling can get you in the long run though

Re: Turbocharging a 383!?

Do what you want man. I have seen a QUAD turbo set up on a heavily modded 4th gen. It was a beast, to say the least.
