Winter is hear but my 4WD is not...

I have a 92 Ford Explorer (4WD) with 270,000 km's on her. I got the truck for a good deal, body is solid and she has been nothing but great to me. Paint is faded but its just to get around and sometimes do some work.

When I bought the truck 4WD would not attepmt to engage.

The Electric Engagement motor attached to the transfer case was broken. I tested it then opened to find out the specific issue.

Also 1 front 4WD Hub was broken. I picked up 2 new 4WD hubs for the truck. I put one on and put it into 4WD Low (from undernieth by hand.)

The engagement motor is not attatched. The front 2 wheels engage very harsh and do not stay in 4WD. The go in and out. It has hard clunking aswell.

I removed both 4WD hubs in the front and the back worked great (as it does in 2WD) I tested it in 4WD low but only hte back wheels would go. It was gorgeous as usual. And I had the low gearing.

This is my first 4WD vehicle, but I have drove many before. I know very little about the 4WD parts.

The clunking sounded like it was coming from the front.

I would really like to get my 4WD working since winter is here. Also she startes great, even @ 40 below (celcious) once last winter. Never pluged in. She's a champ!

Any suggestions? I do not know much about 4WD but do tonnes of work on all my own cars, sleds, atv's etc. I really want to fix it and learn while doing so.

Plus cash is really tight, lol...

Thanks for any reply's or advise...
