*CLUNK* What is this?
The other day I was turning my wheel all the way to the left to back into my driveway, and it made this very loud clunking noice. It sounded like a caliper bolt had come lose, but this was not the case, I just had new tie rods put in like 2 months ago. If anyone knows what this is could you please tell me, and give me an estimate on the price it would be in a shop? Thanks!

How could it be an axle? Its 2 wheel drive and I thought only front wheel drive cars had from axles. Could it possibly be because I was an idiot and didnt have it aligned after I got my tie rods put on? And if it is the wheel bearings are my wheels going to fly off my truck?

I just jacked up each side of the truck independently and the right wheel has a small amount of play in it, while the left side is solid. Does this sound like a wheel bearing?

Get an alignment done and see if it still makes noise.

Was the truck moving while it made this noise or stoped and only turning the steering wheel when it made this noise???
And yes get it aligned |

It only happens when moving. I parked it right before I jacked it up and moved the steering wheel all the way both left and right and it made no noise. What could it be?

When changing any steering component an alignment should be performed, in other words, as others have said, get it aligned. The clunk may not be from the alignment and it may, either way, it needs to be done after the work you did and it will eliminate the question. While they are aligning it, have them check the sway bar bushings, tortion arm mounts, etc. |
