Unhappy 90 Ford Escort Fuse box

I'm having trouble with my fuse box. My dash light keeps going out and I'm consistently blowing a 10 ohm fuse. There appears to be a fuse that is missing as well and I have no idea if that's part of my problem or was for an option that wasn't installed (ie: air conditioning).

I'm going through fuses like crazy and am running into problems driving at night.

Anyone have a diagram of the fuse box (owners manual is looong gone) or know this paticular problem? I really need the help!!!!

Thanks!

Ford fuse boxes are a pain in the arse! It would be easier to change the fuse box itself.

Ick. I hope it doesn't come to that. Any idea on how I do that? I would prefer to do it myself, but you know how valuable time is.

Replacing fuses are easy, it's just problematic when they die right after you replace them. Grr...

take a look at your wires. After time the wires put stress on the connections. It might just be something as esay as pluging a harnas back in.

Okay, I think I found the diagram (that's what it looked like but I was on my way to school so I didn't get a very close look.)

Plugging the harness back in?? I'll look and post again (prolly in a few days). See what I can find!

Thank you!

I had the same problem in mine. Dash lights are controlled by the headlight switch, man. Mine kept killing the 10 amp fuse, too. I replaced the switch, and the problem was gone. Everything works fine now.

Awesome. Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. Short on cash right now so I can't do much. Plus with 321,000 miles on it, I'm always just waiting for the next thing to go! Oy.

Re: 90 Ford Escort Fuse box

wow! good mileage, man. It's about time for the problems to hit, but if the body is in good shape, and most things in the engine bay are good, I'd say save up and rebuild it. Nothing like a Gen 1 Escort.
